Mono - Founder & Manager

Why stay with us?

We both grew up on the capital city and arrived here in our 20's as a Wildlife Biologist and a Software Engineer.

This place opened up our hearts and lead us to a new life - as a family we turned our dream property into a project for other's to experience the same.

Our goal

We created a beautfull and comfortable property for friends and family. But our true goal is to help people feel a true connection with mother nature.

  • It's about creating the conditions

Our role is to create the conditions so that you can truly realize where you are and hopefully that this place gives you the most beautiful gift: remembering where you belong.

  • Our way is having fun

We are surfers, hickers and world traverlers. We believe the best way to experience this paradise is to be engaged with it and having fun doing it!

  • This jungle is the university

During my first visit to Corcovado National Park I had a dream, in it mother nature explained to me that this place is some sort of university where we humans could remember the most important lessons just by spending some quality with her.

What kind of retreat is it?

It's mother nature's retreat. There are no gurus, teachers, no classes, no lectures and no schedules. Definetly no rules and no dogmas!

  • Our method is to not have a method

We truly believe that just by spending quality time and letting the animals, trees, the wind, the rain, the ocean do their thing - the magic of nature - the interconnectedness of everything - reveals it self.

  • Arts of Body & Mind

Around the property there are pods to connect with nature. Sit and contemplate nature, meditate, practice Yoga or fall sleep to the soothing sounds of the jungle. We got hammocks and pillows everywhere.

One Story in our Gallery

There is no way to share how it feels to spend an afternoon under 100 year old trees while listening to the songs of life and the breaking of the waves. Here we just try to share how it looks.

Science & Research

Meet Co-Founder Daniela Solano

Photograph by Marcus O’Leary

Daniela is a leading primatologist of the Osa Peninsula. Her research on squirel monkeys is deeply rooted in her love for all primates.

You'll be walking with her under the canopy and suddenly she'll hear a subtle calling that no one else heard just before she let's us know the monkeys are around. More than a trained ear, she has a connection with this beautiful creatures that can only be found on this small part of the world.

Spending time with people like Daniela is one of the gateways to experience the magic interconecction between every living thing and the delicate harmony that keeps us alive.

Volunteering & Guest Scientists

Becuause of our excelente location to study wildlife we host and sponsor all sorts of wildlife research and it's often to find very scientist, film makers and conservationists with whom to have very interesting conversations over dinner.

Frequently asked questions

What's you exact location?

We are located beachfront 7KM from Puerto Jimenez towards Mata Palo on National Road #255.

Do you rent only one room?

No, we only rent the full property but are open to rent it for small groups. Go ahead and get in touch, we are really nice.

What's your cancelation policy.

We use a traditional cancelation policy, 100% refund 3 months before and 50% 1 Month before your trip.

Is there an hospital near by?

Yep, there is an emergency clinic in town 7KM away and a hospital 20 minutes away by boat ambulance available 24/7.

Is the internet really good?

Yep, you'll be able to watch Netflix Full HD. But please try to use this time to detox from screens or watch some of our collection of positive videos from Gaia.

How do I make a reservation?

Click on the Check Availability & Book button. We'll ask you for a 10% deposit and full payment 3 months before the start of your trip.

Are there any dangerous animals?

Most importantly there is no malaria - which is the most dangerous animal in the jungle. For some reason we have never seen a venenous snake in our property - if you keep within the trails you'll be ok everywhere in The Osa Peninsula. There have never been any deaths by attacks from Apex predators like Puma's, Jaguar's, Sharks or Crocs.

Is it safe for small children and babys?

It definetly is, and they'll love it and we love having them. Our son grew up here, and guests have camped here pregnant, with 4 month old babies and had a great time. The biggest problem is the sun on the beach, use plenty of sunscreen and drink lot's of water.

Can I bring my pet?

It's not a good idea, try not to. If you do, we won't take responsability for anything the happends - it could. It's not safe for pets that are not used to the jungle.
